Environment/surroundings :
Villa Rami is a modern, recently completed property and one of three in the complex. The elevated position of the villa affords panoramic sea views of the area which includes the sparkling bay of Aghia Pelaghia. The villa is both comfortable and stylish as well as being well equipped.
The pool terrace is spacious and easily accommodates sun beds and the large swimming pool will provide hours of entertainment for all visitors.
To the side of the villa a large BBQ area is located with a brick built BBQ and wood burning oven. A sink unit provides a food preparation area making this a very popular place to make an al fresco meal. The whole place has been planned to offer unique moments of pleasure.
The area of Ligaria makes it very popular with visitors who are looking for a peaceful location to relax by the pool and drink in the great scenery.
Nearby there are some great beaches and in the nearby resorts of Lygaria and Agia Pelagia, there are many traditional taverns to choose from.
An 18 hole golf course is available just outside Hersonissos, about 20 km.

BEACHES
As well as those local to the villa, jump in the car and head west to the beach at Fodele. It’s a mixture of sand and pebbles and tends to be fairly quiet with a couple of taverns next to the beach. Head further west until you arrive at the small resort of Bali. This used to be a fishing village and has a number of small beaches dotted along the coastline.

LOCAL SHOPS
There are selection of small min markets and tourist shops in both Ligaria and Aghia Pelaghia but for serious shopping, head to Iraklion! The Saturday market is a vast expanse of stalls selling everything from curtain material to jeans, fresh fruit and vegetables to kitchen equipment. It starts early at 7.30and finishes at around 2pm. The main town of Iraklion is a shoppers delight! Whilst many international chains have branches here such as Zara and Marks and Spencer, there are many small eclectic boutiques worth investigating.

BARS AND RESTAURANTS
In the nearby resorts of Ligaria and Aghia Pelaghia, there are many traditional taverns to choose from and bars to suit those looking for small and intimate as well as lively and buzzing!. Prices are reasonable and the selection will suit all tastes. However if you are looking more cosmopolitan cuisine, Iraklion has a large variety from which to choose.

FAMILY RUN
No holiday is complete without the thrill of the black hole for the adrenaline junkies in the party! There are two water parks to the east of Iraklion and both offer great days out for kids big and small. Or those who like a more gentle water park experience, there is always the Lazy River!!

PLACES OF INTEREST
The choice of places to visit is rather long so for those who enjoy experiencing local bygone civilizations, the Minoan Palaces of Knossos and Phaistos will not disappoint. Alternatively more recent history can be experienced on the Island of Spinalonga in the east of Crete about an hour and a half from the villa. This small island was home to people afflicted by leprosy in the last century. Both children and adults were exiled here until 1953 when the last people left having received treatment. To the west is the town of Rethymnon where influences of both Turkish and Venetian occupations can be recognized in the buildings in the old town.

GOLF
An 18 hole golf course is available just outside Hersonissos and bookings can be made by calling ahead.
Other places of interest, activities (hiking, climbing…)
Many people come to Crete to visit the famous Samaria Gorge, Europes longest gorge. Either take an excursion and walk from top to bottom, a distance of approximately 16klms or take a boat from Sfakia on the south coast and get off in Roumeli. From there you can walk as far as you want before turning around and perhaps taking a swim in the warm Lybian sea. This is where the indiginous goat, the Kri-Kri are found as well as many species of birds of prey.
