Birubi Beach - great for families. Approximately 30km long it starts with a sheltered area at Birubi Point good for young children and runs to Newcastle, it has a patrolled Surf Lifesavers section for swimmers, great surf and 4WD-ing (access through Anna Bay). You can even ride a camel if you wish!
