Environment/surroundings :
When staying in the type Meerkoet, Reiger, Fuut or Stern, an electric boat is at your disposition, free of charge. The park is an excellent starting point for scenic boat trips that run on the Belterwijde and Beulakerwijde. The Frisian lakes are within reach. You can see from the water the lovely towns of Zwartsluis, Dwarsgracht, Giethoorn "the Venice of the North" and Blokzijl.

You can walk here eminently. Around the Giethoorn resort there are several starting points for various hiking trails through the area. The wetlands of the National Park "Weerribben-Wieden" is a haven of peace and quiet. You will find puddles and ditches, extensive reedbeds, meadows full of flowers and dense swamp forests. With any luck you'll be surprised by the rare butterfly "the silver moon", or you see deer and foxes in the open field. There are many observation sites for bird watching.

Hindeloopen is a picturesque Elfsteden town on the Ijsselmeer ("Elfsteden" means "Eleven towns" and is a skating tour on frozen canals along eleven towns in Friesland). The town is also known for her stylish dress, characteristic facades, many wooden bridges and, of course, the Elfstedentocht. Visiting museum Hindeloopen and the skating museum should not be missed on a day in Hindeloopen.

A cruise in Giethoorn leaves you a deep impression, because although the village's many canals are a specialty, the village is also very characteristic by numerous arched bridges and many thatched farmhouses. The nickname "Dutch Venice" is not for nothing. In short, a cruise in Giethoorn is an absolute must. You will enjoy it!
